Apparently I don't even want this milk: I can't sell it in my shipping bin or even cook with it and it sells for a paltry 10% of normal quality milk even if I do manage to hawk it at my market stall in town. Her health had completely depleted by midsummer, leaving me to milk her for just four bottles of the lowest quality milk per day. I'd left my cow Ginger in a similar state, not realizing that my pasture did not have any long grass for her to eat. I faint in my field one afternoon, having eaten so little I couldn't water all my crops in a day. (Image credit: Marvelous Inc, Xseed Games) My first season's progress fools me into thinking I'll quickly save up for more animals and farm facilities. I'm sweet on the bar waitress Molly who also moved to the valley from the city and after learning that she likes the Moon Ore I found at the dig site, I spend two afternoons digging up more. The basic tenants of A Wonderful Life will be familiar to modern farm life sim players: Each morning I wake up around 6 am, cuddle each of my chickens, milk the cows, let all the animals outside into the pasture, spend about half my day's stamina watering crops, and then decide whether I'll use my afternoon to deliver gifts to increase my friendship with the locals, go fishing, or dig up relics in the archeology site.Ī Wonderful Life makes clear that it's truly a simulation of a lifetime, not the crafting, hoarding, and optimizing games I've grown accustomed to.ĭuring my first spring on the farm I grow a modest crop of tomatoes and watermelons, saving up the 1,000 gold to buy a second hen. To effectively support agile projects, the PMO will benefit from having ‘hybrid skills’, where PMs are comfortable with both waterfall and agile and are skilled at implementing the right combination of each approach in a harmonious way to achieve project objectives.Ĭan you give an example of waterfall, agile, and hybrid projects within your organization? This Post is Part of the Series: The Project Management Office PMO managers need to identify the ‘seam’ between waterfall and agile and ensure that the two will work well together. The less detailed, and more high level, the schedule is, the more agile the project will tend to be. The degree of detail of the schedule will indicate how agile, or how waterfall the project is the more detailed the schedule, the more waterfall the project is. Most projects require a schedule at some level. Hybrid – Hybrid approaches refer to the employment of parts of waterfall and agile in unique combinations. The PMO will need to have buy in and support from the top level to implement and support agile throughout the enterprise. The rapid pace of change is a good reason for PMs and the PMO to adopt an agile mindset in any case, but also to support through training and support the use of agile on appropriate projects. The fact that there is so much change occurring across so many business areas means that agile approaches are worth considering and applying, at least in part. Agile – Agile is most often associated with software projects, but it can also be used effectively on other projects.Understanding that, knowing where to draw the line, and having the skills within the PMO to draw on the waterfall methodology is important. A PMO may have a subset of projects of a type that would best be served using waterfall methodologies. Waterfall is often use for construction projects because they tend to be much more predictable across these dimensions. It simply requires situations where there is strong familiarity with what needs to be done, including experience estimating, planning and doing tasks, and measuring progress. Waterfall – Waterfall is by no means gone as a methodology. Here is a synopsis for the challenges and opportunities for applying waterfall, agile, and hybrid approaches within an organization They just require knowledge on the team across the spectrum of approaches needed within the organization, and likely need skill in choosing the right combination of approaches in a hybrid fashion. There are challenges to a PMO to support multiple methodologies, but they are not at all insurmountable. Finally, Part 4, “The One Thing That a PMO Must Do”, distills it all down to one make or break consideration that trumps all others. Part 3, “What to Look for in PMO Software,” surveys the range of functionality [provided by PMO software, and how to choose what’s best for your PMO. Part 1, “The Three Flavors of PMOs”, looks at the primary types of approaches that PMO’s take. This article, Part 2 in the series, “Waterfall, Agile, and Hybrid Methodologies,” looks at how PMOs can handle the complexity of managing a variety of methodologies across the enterprise. This is the second of a series of four articles on the Project Management Office (PMO), where we explore the various aspects of this complex, controversial organizational entity that, in practice, has produced both resounding success and miserable failure. This article explores how PMOs can be supportive of various methodologies and help make localized efforts more effective. It is especially complicated when some approaches emphasize local, decentralized management – and need to support it from a PMO, which by nature is centralized. However, it gets more complicated when there are different project types – and different approaches to managing them. Project Management Offices (PMOs) partner, control, or serve the organization by providing structure in the form of project management methodologies. 9/24/2023 0 Comments Rhino 7 empty stomachWhen starch is delivered to the hindgut the starch fermenters (amylolytic bacteria) begin to rapidly ferment the starch, producing large quantities of lactic acid and volatile fatty acids (VFA). The diet composition affects the makeup of the microbial population. Another function of the hindgut is water reabsorption. Fermentation also produces methane, carbon dioxide and water, as well as most of the B-vitamins and some amino acids. Important end-products of the fermentation are volatile fatty acids (acetic, propionic and butyric) which can serve as an energy source for horses fed mostly forages such as pasture or hay. The major functions of the hindgut are the microbial digestion (fermentation) of dietary fiber (structural carbohydrates primarily from forages in the horse’s diet). The cecum consists of 12-15% of tract capacity and the colon 40-50% of tract capacity. The hindgut of the horse comprises the cecum, large colon, small colon and rectum. If starch is not digested in the small intestine it will be delivered to the hindgut where it will be rapidly fermented by bacteria, causing lactic acid production and accumulation, hindgut acidosis and diseases such as colic, metabolic acidosis and laminitis/founder. The digestion of starch can often be incomplete due to the starch present in cereal grains being protected by the grains seed coat. The digestion of oils and protein is extensive in the small intestine. These enzymes, which are produced either in the pancreas or the small intestine, reduce starch into glucose, fats (oil) into glycerol and fatty acids, and protein into amino acids. Starch is digested by amylase enzymes, oil is digested by lipase enzymes and protein is digested by protease enzymes. In the small intestine a majority of non-structural carbohydrate (starch), protein and fat is digested by enzymes and absorbed. volume of feed consumed and rate of passage affect digestion and absorption of nutrients – larger volume and increased rate of passage will decrease digestion and absorption The passage of feed through the horse’s small intestine is rapid, moving at approximately 1 foot/min and delivering the digesta to the cecum in as little as 45 minutes after a meal. The horse’s small intestine is approximately 70 feet long, comprising 30% of the total digestive system. Once feed is released from the stomach it enters the small intestine. Very little absorption of nutrients occurs in the stomach. The stomach’s main functions include mixing, storage and controlled release of feed into the small intestine and secretion of pepsin to begin protein digestion. Due to the small capacity, smaller, frequent meals are recommended. The horse has the smallest stomach in relation to body size of all domestic animals. The stomach of the horse is the smallest unit of the digestive tract with a capacity of approximately 2-4 gallons, comprising around 10% of the total volume of the horse’s digestive tract. Once swallowed the bolus of feed moves from the esophagus to the stomach. Saliva acts as a lubricant to provide easier passage through the esophagus and buffers acid in the stomach. The horse chews reducing feed particle size and mixing it with saliva to begin the digestive process. Digestion of feeds begins when food enters the mouth. The horse’s gastrointestinal tract consists of the mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine and the highly developed large intestine composed of the caecum, large colon, small colon and rectum (figure 1).Īnatomical features of the mouth include the teeth, tongue and salivary glands. Horses are non-ruminant herbivores, meaning they eat mainly plant material. 9/24/2023 0 Comments Fcs fin familyThis concept was the brainchild of Australia’s Simon Anderson QUADS 4 FINS The thrusters give you stabilization, control and manoeuvrability in all types of surfing conditions. Widely recognized as the standard fin configuration, the thruster answers the shortcomings of the single fin and the twin fins configurations. Single fins are added stabilization and control on the powerful, larger waves, although lack manoeuvrability TWIN FINĪre great for small waves, being fast and manoeuvrable, but when put into tight spots on larger waves, they become hard to control. The single fin was the original fin configuration for surfboards. The following are some of the more common fin configurations. FIN CONSIDERATIONSįin configurations have an effect on the ways your surfboards perform. Although if you prefer to ride a looser (less hold in the waves), smaller fins would be a better option. Generally heavier surfers require larger fins to hold the waves better. Used to increase the strength of a surfboard, a stringer (normally made from wood) runs down the length of a surfboards (typically in the centre of the board from the tip of the nose to the tail).īoards built with Epoxy, Carbon Fibre and soft boards generally don’t have stringers. The nose is the tip of the surfboard, the nose can vary in shapes and size. Basically the thinner the nose the more response the board will perform, while wider noses are better for stabilization. Where the flatter rocker surfboards will be faster, although they will lack the looseness. Generally the more rocker the surfboard has the more loose (manoeuvrable) the surfboard will be. Professional surfers will tend to go for the thinner boards as they are lighter and offer better performance. The thicker boards are stronger and because there is more foam under the surfer the boards are more stable. The thickness again has a bearing on the board’s performance. Surfboard thickness is measured from the top deck to the bottom. Generally the wider the surfboard the more stable the board, while a board with smaller width maintains better speed and performance. The widest point of the surfboard is measured from rail to rail. Choosing the length of the surfboard is dependant on your size (weight, height), board type and waves conditions you wish to use the board for. The length is measured from the nose to the tail. Typically surfboards are measured in inches. THERE ARE MANY ASPECTS TO SURFBOARD SELECTION THESE ARE THE POINTS TO CONSIDER LENGTH This versatile fin material is light, and can be used in a variety of different conditions. The flex pattern in PC fins extends progressively from the base through to the tip, helping the surfer to maintain drive and hold through a turn. Performance Core (PC) fins are made using a multi-layered resin transfer molding process. Ideal for surfers who want a reliable ‘All Round’ fin delivering a combination of speed and maneuverability with flow between turns.Ī wide range of conditions from beach breaks to point breaks.ĭesigned to fit the FCS II Fin System.Well proportioned template with Inside Foil Technology (IFT). Even more, there has been no credible link established between R.J. When he was in town to work on his movies, the movie studios often put him up as close to where they were shooting as possible. In reality, Houdini would stay at the Alexandria Hotel when he was in town to perform his act. And others claim that he visited once in a while when he was working on some movies in the area. Course, this rumor keeps alive with people claiming, that Houdini lived and stayed at the guesthouse across the street, which was connected by an underground passageway. However, Houdini's name fails to appear on any of the property deeds, invoices, transfers of title, etc for the estate. Again according to conjecture and rumor, Walker was apparently a good friend of Houdini's and the rumor states that before his death, Walker bequeathed the house to Houdini. The first is that the house did at one time belong to R.J. Where did the rumor come from? Well no one really knows, but there are two likely sources. A rumor that seems to have sprung up in the 1960s, especially after the house stayed vacant after the fire ripped through the area. And although, it was magnificent, and creepy, and weird, everything Houdini's house should be, it wasn't his house. Shortly after the fire in 1959 everyone started assuming that the house that was burnt to the ground was Houdini's house. His form can also be seen wandering the garden grotto.Ī good story, but what a load of garbage. Occasionally one can see his ghost standing alone on a staircase, still haunting the ruins of his old estate. To this day no one's ever found it! The estate was destroyed in a massive fire in 1959, but Harry Houdini still haunts the site, roaming through what's left, cobblestones, and decrepit marble staircases that survived the fire. The house had parapets, towers, an indoor theatrical stage, underground tunnels, secret passageways, basement pools and a secret deep dark cavern where Houdini kept a locked chest with all his greatest secrets. So you've probably heard that at some point in his career, the great Harry Houdini, escape artist extraordinaire, entered into the motion picture business, relocated to Hollywood, purchased a lavish estate on Laurel Canyon Boulevard, and spent much of his time there. If you’re looking to just splurge on one, consider why you’re buying it. Whilst I don’t think that a palette should be limited to a particular skin tone, I can’t help but love the look of RG on paler skin and the warmth of DD on my darker skin… I’ve done something a lil different this time and have swatches on two different skin tones. If I could seasonise them, I’d say Desert Dusk is perfect for Autumn (with its burnt tones), Summer (warm tones) and Spring (purples!) whilst the RG looks like it could be more of a Winter palette with some cooler tones – but the shimmers take it over across the rest of the year! The shade ranges – though look alike – are quite different between the two palettes. In the RG palette however, the darker shades aren’t as opaque and take some building up. The lighter, brighter colours apply well. The pigmentation of the mattes is pretty good. You can swivel your brush in the pan and it will remain looking untouched. The mattes are dry – and that’s not a bad thing! The formula between the mattes in both palettes is pretty consistent. Twilight is a purple-blue shadow topper with a pink shift which is nice when applied with a dense brush or finger. For example, Cosmo neeeeeeds glitter glue! It is basically loose glitter, tightly packed in the pan. The DD palette has more shimmer/glitters that require different forms of application. They can be a little difficult to work with and may take a couple of dips of a synthetic brush. The RG shimmers have a creamy feel to them, and apply best with a warm finger (that sounds equally unnerving as the word moist. The difference in formula between the RG shimmers and DD shimmers is immense. This is more commonly seen in palettes nowadays. The RG palette was organised with the first row dedicated to metallic shades, whilst the DD has shimmers scattered throughout the palette. The DD palette itself looks a lot smoother and put together as the RG palette has ridges which are easily damaged. The DD packaging definitely looks richer and more luxe, however, the RG design is more practical. The RG has a clear lid so you can see the shadows inside (makes sense – kind of like a Z Palette), whist the DD has gorgeous image of eyes. The design on the RG sleeve makes up for the lack of design on the lid of the palette. However, boxes are dead to me and go straight into the bin! I personally prefer the sleeve as I actually keep my palette in it as it’s easy to just slide off. The Rose Gold (RG) is a sleeve whilst the Desert Dusk (DD) is a box. The outer cardboard the palette comes in differs between the two. I thought it would be interesting to compare shades, packaging etc with the Rose Gold palette as it was her first palette – I’m interested to know if she had any learnings.īecause I’ve been busy/lazy, I hadn’t put up a review of the Rose Gold palette – so this will serve as a review of both! Well that’s all we have to say for now ! the shadow is extremely pigmented as far as we know and we know it’s going to be the talk of the town soon after its release so everyone ,get ready…or rather.Huda’s back with a gorgeous looking palette to add to her makeup collection! Having started with lashes, Huda has since branched out into liquid lipsticks, lip contour pencils (soft lip pencils really), hilighters, eye shadow palettes and foundation (just launched!)įollowing the success of her limited edition Rose Gold palette, Huda has released the Desert Dusk which launched in Australia as couple of months ago. Of course, Huda didn’t disappoint with the packaging either as you can see in the picture right here. The palette has various textures there is the eyeshadow toppers, the gorgeous, creamy and pigmented mattes, the shimmers (which are,not to mention, made from al pearls!) and the glitters. The beauty guru later posted swatches of the more warm tone palette that incorporated some beautiful purplish tones in it. The first to take a glance of this beauty was the co-founder and chief creative officer of Too Faced, Jerrod Blandino! and his reaction alone ensured how amazing this product is. Earlier yesterday, Huda Kattan updated us on social media as she attended a Sephora event where she first launched the product to the sephora team and of course the crowd went wild!. Its finally revealed: Huda Beauty desert dusk!Īfter a long time of black and white videos of the palette, it was finally revealed…The Huda Beauty Desert dusk eyeshadow palette. 9/23/2023 0 Comments No blender hollandaise sauceIf you try this recipe, let us know! Leave a comment, rate it, and don’t forget to tag a photo Instagram. It’s delicious on roasted asparagus, Vegan “Eggs” Benedict, or traditional Eggs Benedict (if you’re dairy-free but not vegan). We hope you LOVE this vegan hollandaise sauce! It’s: Heat the mixture for a few minutes until thickened, and serve anywhere you’d want classic hollandaise! The remaining ingredients are lemon juice and dijon mustard for classic hollandaise flavor, plus sea salt because always, garlic powder for a savory endnote, and nutritional yeast for depth of flavor and a beautiful subtle yellow color. Other dairy-free milks should work in place of almond milk - just make sure to use one that’s neutral in flavor and not sweetened! Next, we add in (unsweetened plain) almond milk for a creamy element, plus water to provide enough liquid while keeping it neutral in flavor. When the butter has cooled off enough to coat the back of a spoon, add it to the bowl with the egg yolk and lemon juice and use the hand blender to mix until well combined. While the vegan butter provides richness, the flour helps the sauce thicken. In a deep bowl or measuring cup, add the egg yolk and lemon juice and blend together with a hand blender until well combined. This vegan hollandaise sauce starts with making a roux by melting vegan butter in a skillet and whisking in your choice of all-purpose flour or a gluten-free flour blend (we used our DIY Gluten-Free Flour Blend). Keep sauce in a warm place and use within 1 hour of making. Remove the center of the blender lid and slowly pour in the melted butter, while blending on LOW speed. You may need to put it back in for 10-15 more seconds until it reaches the consistency of gravy. Add the egg yolks, lemon juice and cayenne pepper to the blender and blend for 20 to 30 seconds, until the egg yolks turn a light pale yellow. Hint: Take it out halfway through the cooking (about 20 seconds) and whisk. The following is our plant-based take on hollandaise sauce made without the eggs or (dairy) butter, but with similar flavor, texture, and uses! How to Make Vegan Hollandaise Sauce This sauce is super easy to make- just throw everything in the blender Then warm, in a small bowl, in the microwave for about 45 seconds. Along the way, hollandaise sauce made its way onto the list of the French mother sauces (basic sauces that are the basis for other more complex ones). The first recorded recipe was in a 1651 French cookbook, and a similar recipe appeared in a Dutch cookbook shortly after, in 1667. It gets emulsified until creamy and is best known for being served over Eggs Benedict.įrom French, the name translates to “Hollandic sauce,” implying Dutch origin, but it’s unclear if that’s where it began. Classic hollandaise sauce is made from egg yolk, melted butter, lemon juice (or another acidic ingredient), salt, and spices. 9/23/2023 0 Comments Last road to nowhereIt's this actress, Laurel Graham (Shannyn Sossamon, Wristcutters), who was having the affair with Tachen and who was either murdered or killed herself alongside him. Rafe Tachen (Cliff De Young) was up to some never-quite-explained shenanigans that connected him to a Cuban mover and shaker (Fabio Testi) whose daughter Velma has apparently gone missing and so they hire a young actress to fill in for her. Except all is not as it seems, which is what Nathalie's story is really about. At first I was going to describe where the story goes from there as "vertiginous," but really, it's more like an exploding firework, with lots of sparks and flames going off in various directions.Įssentially, Mitchell and his production partners want to tell the story of a politician in North Carolina who had an affair with a much younger Cuban national and possibly embezzled a significant chunk of money. The film is called Road to Nowhere, and the camera zooms into the laptop screen as the credits roll over the top of what is apparently a murder and a suicide. Road to Nowhere opens in a sparse room where film director Mitchell Haven (Tygh Runyan) is showing his cinematic version of a recent scandal to Nathalie Post (Dominique Swain, Lolita), the internet journalist who broke the story. Then again, the Coen Bros.' jokingly tricked us from the start, leading us by the nose into their clever fiction Hellman waits until we have waded through the confusion (and all the credits) and gotten a handle on what is going down, and then he yanks the rug one last time. Part of the point of Road to Nowhere is that you don't know, and being aware of the ruse behind Fargo didn't really change my perception of Fargo. As of this writing, I haven't investigated whether that is a lie or not, because I'm not convinced it really matters. That's the last thing you see on the screen as Monte Hellman's Road to Nowhere comes to an end.
